Cloud-Connected Mobile Fuel Dispenser

A dispensing system that travels to the equipment instead of the equipment travelling to a pump. Truck or skid mounted, metering and identifying every transfer, reconciling what left the tank against what reached the machine, and reporting from sites that frequently have neither mains power nor reliable coverage.

WHAT IT IS

The short version.

On a mine, a construction site, a farm or a depot, moving plant to a fixed pump costs more in machine hours than the fuel is worth. So the pump travels instead — mounted on a truck or a skid, refuelling excavators, generators, pumps and vehicles where they stand.

That inverts almost every assumption a forecourt dispenser is built on. There is no mains supply, no fixed network, no attendant kiosk and no site survey, because the site changes daily. The dispenser draws from a vehicle electrical system that experiences cranking and load dump, operates in a classified area with vapour present, and has to produce a defensible record of every transfer for a fuel account that is reconciled monthly.

The engineering value is not the pump. It is knowing, per transfer, how much fuel moved, into which vessel, authorised by whom, at what temperature, and having that record survive a day with no coverage.

Why mount a dispenser on a vehicle rather than use a fixed pump?

Because on a mine, a construction site or a farm, moving plant to a fixed pump costs more in machine hours than the fuel is worth. The dispenser travels to the equipment, which removes the lost cycle but takes away mains power, fixed connectivity and an attendant.

How is a transfer recorded when there is no coverage?

Every transaction is stored on the unit with its volume, temperature-compensated figure, vessel identity, operator and timestamp, and forwarded when a link returns. Sites that need refuelling most reliably are the ones with the worst coverage, so store-and-forward is architectural rather than a fallback.

Does this require weights and measures approval?

It depends on whether fuel is being sold or internally transferred. Sale to a third party brings legal metrology obligations and a sealed, approved metering path; internal transfer within one organisation generally does not. The distinction is established before the metering approach is chosen, because it constrains the entire design.

Why does temperature compensation matter here?

Diesel expands and contracts with temperature by an amount comparable to the losses being investigated in any reconciliation. Recording raw litres produces a seasonal variance that conceals real discrepancy, so compensated volume is the figure that goes into the account.

How does this connect to fuel theft detection?

By binding volume to identity at the moment of transfer. A meter records that fuel left the tank; the NFC read records which vessel received it. Without that pairing, a mobile dispenser produces a total and no way to attribute it.

Is the unit safe to operate in a classified area?

Hazardous area classification is established at scoping because it constrains enclosure, battery, radio power and certification route simultaneously. Deadman control, overfill protection, bonding verification and emergency stop are part of the specification rather than accessories.
