INDUSTRY

Automotive & Mobility

Automotive electronics face an electrical environment that would destroy consumer hardware and a validation burden that consumer schedules would not survive. Faststream works on telematics, in-cab sensing, ADAS integration and the automotive Ethernet timing that keeps distributed sensor data coherent.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What engineers ask before they call.

01

Why does automotive Ethernet need Precision Time Protocol?

Because distributed sensors produce data that is only meaningful if timestamps across the vehicle agree. A camera frame and a radar return that disagree about when they were captured place an object in the wrong place, in proportion to relative velocity.

02

What makes automotive hardware different from industrial?

The electrical environment, principally — cranking dips and load dump — alongside vibration, temperature range and a validation burden set by the consequence of failure.
