NFC Nozzle Reader

A reader in the nozzle assembly that confirms the tag pairing at the moment of dispensing, closing the loop between authorisation and delivery. A reader at the pump proves intent; a reader at the nozzle proves delivery.

WHAT IT IS

The short version.

Authorising at the dispenser establishes that someone with the right credentials started a transaction. It does not establish that the fuel went into the vessel that was authorised, and in operations where that distinction has financial consequence, the difference matters.

Putting the reader in the nozzle assembly closes that gap. The tag on the tank is read at the moment of and for the duration of dispensing, so delivery is confirmed against identity continuously rather than at the start of a transaction.

The engineering constraint is the environment. A nozzle is handled, dropped, exposed to fuel and weather, and expected to keep working. The electronics have to survive that, and the antenna has to work through whatever the assembly is made of.

Why put the reader in the nozzle rather than the dispenser?

Authorising at the dispenser establishes that a valid transaction was started. Reading at the nozzle establishes that fuel went into the vessel that was authorised, which is a different claim and the one that matters when losses have financial consequence.
