Media & Entertainment

Latency and synchronisation are the entire problem. Contribution and distribution infrastructure carries video that cannot be late, cannot drift and cannot be re-sent — so timing distribution, deterministic transport and amplifier efficiency decide the system long before any feature does.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What engineers ask before they call.

01

Why is timing distribution critical in broadcast infrastructure?

Because sources across a facility or network must share a common clock for their outputs to be combined coherently. Hardware timestamping at the interface, rather than in software, is what makes the accuracy achievable — which makes it an IEEE 1588 problem before it is a video problem.

02

What limits video over IP transport?

The channel. At the rates uncompressed and lightly compressed video demands, insertion loss, crosstalk and jitter budget determine what is achievable — the silicon is rarely the constraint.

03

Why does digital pre-distortion matter to broadcast?

High-power transmitters face the same physics as cellular base stations: efficiency rises as the amplifier is driven toward saturation, and spectral masks punish the distortion that causes. Pre-distortion recovers the headroom that efficiency costs.
