BLE-to-IP Gateway

The receiving infrastructure for a BLE tracking deployment: gateways that hear tag advertisements and forward them over Wi-Fi or Ethernet to the platform. Placement of these decides the accuracy of the whole system far more than the tags do.

BLEGatewayWi-FiEthernet
WHAT IT IS

The short version.

Tags advertise; gateways listen. Each gateway reports which tags it heard and at what signal strength, and the platform infers position from the pattern across gateways.

Which means gateway placement is the system design. Too few and coverage has holes that look like assets disappearing. Poorly placed and zones overlap in ways that make the inferred position ambiguous. Placed without regard to the racking, machinery and walls actually present, and the propagation model bears no relation to the site.

This is why a site survey precedes a deployment rather than following it. Measuring propagation on the real floor with real obstructions takes a day and prevents a rollout that never quite works.

Maturity — silicon-proven, FPGA-validated or RTL stage — is confirmed at enquiry for the specific configuration you need, rather than claimed generically here.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

Deliverables and support.

Next step

Send the target node, the interface requirements and the integration context. If this is not the right fit, that will be said early rather than discovered at integration.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions asked before an evaluation.

01

How many gateways does a site need?

It depends on the zone granularity required and the propagation environment, which is why a site survey precedes deployment. Racking, machinery and construction materials affect propagation enough that a desk estimate is unreliable.

02

Why does gateway placement matter more than tag choice?

Because position is inferred from the pattern of which gateways heard a tag and how strongly. Poor placement produces coverage holes and ambiguous overlaps that no tag specification compensates for.
