Job Description
The HW Design Engineer will design and deliver high-quality boards and test platforms for Microcontroller / FPGAs. Directly responsible for all aspects of hardware design and delivery, including schematic capture, managing constraints, and overseeing layout, BOM management, design verification testing of the board, debug, and bring-up support for Emulation/Verification teams. Working closely with cross-functional teams involved with a typical hardware design project: mechanical design, PCB CAD, Power/Signal Integrity analysis, component engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and customers. This person will be expected to be a strong technical contributor, working independently, or overseeing junior engineers as applicable, in all stages from requirements gathering and concept development, to production qualification and support.
Technical Skills
- High speed board design, Signal integrity, Power design
- Digital / Mixed-Signal Design Experience for IoT/ Consumer / Industrial / Automotive markets
- Microprocessor / FPGA Experience – TI, NXP, Qualcomm, Renesas, Xilinx, Altera FPGA.
- Audio and Video Design Experience – LCD, HDMI, Display port, DSI, CSI, McASP
- Wired Connectivity – Ethernet, USB, PCIe,
- DC/DC Power supply design, Battery operated product design experience
- Test and Debug – Board Bring Up, Interface testing, Level zero coding
- Knowledge of debugging tools like IDEs, Emulators
- Multi-layer PCB Layout, DFM & DFA knowledge.
- Exposure to design tools – ORCAD, Allegro / Mentor Graphics / Altium
- Design knowledge with memory architectures & their interfaces SRAM, SDRAM, DPRAM, EEPROM, DDR2/3
- Experience with protocols & interfaces like RS-232, 485, SPI, I2C,IrDA, ARINC429, AFDX.
- Hands on experience with high speed digital design like FPGA, Processors and Controllers interfaces
- Analysis: AC, DC, Loading, Power, Current, Derating, Lighting, Obsolescence
- Preparation of schematic design, netlist, and BOM using various ECAD tools
- Verification of the Designed PCB Files using Allegro and Cadstar Design viewer
- Testing and troubleshooting of the designed boards.
- 4+ years experience with hardware design and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.
- 2+ years experience utilizing schematic capture and circuit simulation software.
Educational Qualifications
- B. Tech / M. Tech degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Computer science with 4 to 6 years of experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with teams spread geographically.
- Good debugging and analytical skills.
