System Functional Level Verification

System-on-Chip Verification has become more complicated with advanced SoCs, which require special interconnect IP to perform the on-chip communication function. This has resulted in functional and performance verification of these SoC interconnects jumping to a new level of complexity. In Faststream we have been made use of tools that simplify verification while providing design engineers the ability to find and fix interconnect problems much earlier in the design cycle.



ARM SoC Verification


Faststream has enhanced the Arm-based system verification technologies by making use of advanced System Development Suite that offers that following.


  • Completing faster performance analysis and verification of Arm CoreLink™ interconnect intellectual property (IP) based systems.
  • VIP – Verification IP, supporting AMBA 5 CHI protocol for an advanced server, storage, and networking systems and Accelerated Verification IP for the Palladium series.
  • Using Palladium XP platform and Joules™ RTL Power Solution to perform low-power optimization for ARM-based system using dynamic power analysis.


Low Power Verification


Faststream uses a Low Power Verification solution consisting of a voltage-aware checking, modeling and simulation technology that delivers the required accuracy and verification coverage for low power designs. This includes the most advanced mobile SoCs with fine-grained power management. The solution is capable of supporting comprehensive static analysis and checking of UPF power intent which includes power state transitions, power shutdown, and multi-rail macros; that help designers to find and fix low power bugs.


Hardware and Software Co-Verification


An efficient hardware-software co-verification methodology is essential in the design of systems on boards (SoB) and systems on chip (SoC). The increasing complexity of hardware makes the challenge of their integration more difficult than ever. Thankfully, the recent advancements in the processor-based accelerators/emulators and instruction set simulators has enabled our SoC developers to verify the device drivers using HW-SW co-verification techniques. At Faststream the state of the art tools and methodologies are available to integrate the software into the hardware at RTL verification stage and provide a complete solution.


Post Silicon Bring up and Validation


Before product release, post-silicon validation is a must, which encompasses all validation effort that is poured onto a system after the first few silicon prototypes become available, Most of the post-silicon validation effort used to be invested into validating electrical aspects of the design or diagnosing systematic manufacturing defects, but now the focus has shifted to the functional system validation. Faststream develops the automation and runs the tests to validate the firmware on the IC. We also run system-level validation tests. After each firmware upgrade, the automation ensures that regression tests can be quickly run.
